If you have been on GOMO for a while, you know the deal: generous local data, Singtel's network underneath, and roaming that works well within Southeast Asia. The question most GOMO users run into is what happens when the trip goes further. Japan for a week. Turkey for ten days. A multi-stop itinerary through Europe. The plan that covers your daily Singapore commute starts to look a lot thinner when you are navigating a foreign city and watching the data ticker move. This guide covers how GOMO roaming actually works in 2026, what is included in each plan tier, how to handle add-ons for destinations outside the five core APAC countries, and where a separate travel eSIM saves you money and stress.
GOMO is Singtel's digital-first sub-brand, launched in 2019. All plans are no-contract and managed entirely through the GOMO app. The network is Singtel, which means you are on Singapore's largest and most extensive mobile infrastructure with 4G and 5G+ coverage across the island.
For roaming, GOMO uses Singtel's global partner network. Roaming is data-only on standard add-ons: you can receive incoming SMS including OTPs, but outgoing calls and SMS are not available through roaming data packs. This is one of the most important things to understand before departure.
All current GOMO 5G+ plans include a monthly roaming data allowance for five APAC destinations: Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Taiwan, and Australia. The size of that allowance varies by plan tier. For any destination outside those five countries, GOMO sells add-on roaming packs through the app covering single destinations and regional or global bundles.
*Fair use policy applies. Unlimited Asia: up to 20GB at full speed. Unlimited Worldwide: up to 25GB. After the threshold, speeds reduce to 512kbps. APN for GOMO roaming: e-ideas.
Included destinations: Enable data roaming in your device settings before departure. Your monthly allowance activates automatically on arrival in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Taiwan or Australia.
Add-on destinations: Open the GOMO app, go to Add-ons, select Roaming, and purchase your pack at least 24 hours before departure. Set the APN to e-ideas if your phone does not connect automatically after landing.
Preferred partner networks: GOMO publishes a preferred roaming partner list for each destination on gomo.sg. If auto-selection picks the wrong carrier, select manually in your device settings.
Voice calls: Roaming data packs do not include outgoing calls or SMS. Use WhatsApp or FaceTime over your data connection. Incoming SMS works for OTPs.
Data Bank: Unused local GOMO data can be deposited into Data Bank within the app. Balances never expire and can be redeemed for unlimited roaming on eligible plan tiers.
Monitor usage: The GOMO app shows roaming data in near-real-time. Check it daily on longer trips to avoid hitting your cap mid-route.
GOMO's included APAC roaming is strong value for short regional trips. Step beyond those five destinations and the picture changes. Add-on packs have 15-day validity windows, and if your plan cycle resets mid-trip you may find yourself mid-route needing a second purchase. For a ten-day trip to Japan or Turkey, a dedicated travel eSIM sized to your actual stay is simpler and often cheaper than two overlapping GOMO add-ons.
The dual-SIM setup works cleanly here. Your GOMO number stays live for banking OTPs and Singapore calls. A TurkSIM eSIM handles local data on the ground. Most current iPhones and Samsung Galaxy flagships support dual eSIM, so no physical SIM changes are needed.
GOMO's worldwide pool covers 50 destinations, but Turkey, most of the Middle East, and large parts of Central Asia are not on the list. Even within the 50-country pool, full-speed data is capped at 10-25GB depending on your plan before throttling to 512kbps. A Singaporean spending ten days in Istanbul navigating the city's tram system, checking restaurant bookings, and staying in touch via WhatsApp will clear that cap faster than most people expect.
GOMO already supports eSIM across all current plans, which makes adding a TurkSIM eSIM profile for a Turkey trip a two-minute process. The GOMO line stays active for OTPs and Singapore calls. TurkSIM connects to Turkcell or Vodafone at local-rate speeds from the moment you land. No mid-cycle reset anxiety, no throttling mid-Bosphorus cruise.
No. Standard GOMO roaming add-ons are data-only. Outgoing calls and SMS while roaming are not included. Use WhatsApp, FaceTime, or another VoIP app over your data connection. Incoming SMS works fine for OTPs.
Set your APN to e-ideas if your device does not connect automatically after landing. Leave the username and password fields blank. This applies to both included destination data and add-on packs.
Yes. Add-ons can be purchased through the GOMO app at any time including after arrival. GOMO recommends purchasing at least 24 hours before departure to ensure the pack is active when you land.
Included destination allowances reset with your cycle. An active add-on pack continues until its own validity expires. If both expire mid-trip, you will need to purchase a new pack to continue. This is the main reason to consider a trip-based travel eSIM for stays that straddle a billing cycle.
Yes. All current GOMO plans support eSIM. You can choose eSIM at signup or switch from a physical SIM through the GOMO website or app. Activation for new numbers and Singtel port-ins completes within around four hours; non-Singtel port-ins take up to three working days.
Turkey is not currently listed within GOMO's standard worldwide roaming pool. Singaporeans travelling to Turkey should arrange a separate local data solution. A TurkSIM eSIM connecting to Turkcell or Vodafone Turkey is the most practical option and runs alongside your GOMO number on dual-SIM devices.
